Goris Museum of Regional Studies
The first museum of Syunik was founded in Goris in 1948. It is the geological museum of Goris. Here you can get acquainted with the history and culture of the region. The museum has more than 5300 exhibits. The exhibition also has a rich archaeological collection. The most significant are the five-faced idol, which begins its history in BC. from the 2nd millennium and the Lion figurine, which was created in the 8th-7th centuries BC.
At first, the museum was located in Goris St. Grigor Church, later the museum did not function for some time after the independence of Armenia. The museum was reopened only in 2001 in the territory of the cultural center named after Gusan Ashot, where it is currently operating.
